Socks are this seemingly humble part of our everyday wardrobe

The Bata Shoe Museum opened a yearlong exhibit in April titled "Socks: Between You and Your Shoes". The exhibit takes the viewer through the history of socks and shoes begins with a replica of a shoe worn by the 5,300-year-old Neolithic man discovered in the Alps in 1991. Before the invention of knitting or even weaving and sewing was thought of, grass would be stuffed into their shoes or boots as a means of keeping away moisture and adding comfort. There is a wide collection of of socks from several centuries as well as different social classes. This is an extremely unique exhibition and is well worth the visit if you find yourself in Toronto, Canada.
